Some Minor Statistical Analysis

Sep 8 2008, 9:48 am

Out of curiosity, I performed a little research on our peculiar hobby.

Of the 5 people I found in my facebook networks who list "D&D" as an
interest, 4 were "Christian," 3 of which were "Conservative."

Recognizing semantic differences, I found 4 other people who listed
"Dungeons & Dragons" as an interest. Only two of them listed a
religion: Agnostic and Kindness.

So, are publicly Christan facebookers more likely to veil their
activity in an acronym, while still wanting to put it out there? And
then, are a-religious types more forthcoming by spelling it in full,
provided they want anyone to know in the first place?

Incidentally, I only knew one of the people revealed in the search,
one of the 6 people I currently play with.

    On that note I have to proffer even more mysterious connections.

    It seems UND has a small, but devoted Dance Dance Revolution fan base. In the first two weeks of holding this Free Wellness Center
    Sponsored Group Exercise Class, I noted that during intermission while catching our breath and choosing another song, some of my participants/patrons (i.e. guests) were talking about their latest campaign. And after a voluntary inquiry and a response of raised hands I noted that at least six of them play D&D, 2 play D20modern, and 1 plays vampire:
    the requiem. Most are rampant anime followers.

    Obviously, this proves statistically that DDR, not unlike its similarly acronymed friend, D&D is satanic pastime and should be entered into with abandon, or not at all.

    My apologies, I would like to make a note of the use of HEAVY sarcasm in the previous post for those who missed it.

    On another related note, those that engage in SCA and in LARPing are often also heavy gamers.

    This would be a case of stating the obvious for humorous effect?

    So you are saying that LARPers and SCAers are satan worshipers? ;)

    Well, if we use some of the statistically substantiated yet simple premises stated this article and apply a small amount of deductive
    reasoning:

    All DDRers like D&D
    All D&Ders worship satan
    Therefore all DDRers worship satan.

    Feel free to replace "DDRers" with a like-minded activity like "LARPer" or "SCAer"

    Or, by using a version of axiomatic propositional logic...

    * [PL1] DDR → (DD → DDR)
    * [PL2] (DDR → (DD → SATAN)) → ((DDR → DD) → (DDR → SATAN))
    * [PL3] (¬DDR → ¬DD) .....

    ....Never mind. Just take my word on it. There is a very large group off unimaginative, un-fun people out there; We've got a better chance of survival if we stick together.
